Bisi Bele Bath Powder

Bisi Bele Bath is a semi-solid, rice based traditional dish originating from Karnataka. Bisi Bele Bhath connotes ‘hot lentil rice’. Its preparation undergoes an elaborate process deploying the use of spicy masala, toor dal & vegetables. Spices including nutmeg give it a unique flavour & a remarkable taste. It is served hot & savoured with chutney, khara boondhi, salad, papad or potato chips.


Red Chillies (35%), Coriander, Bengal gram dal, Urad dal, Cumin, Dried Coconut, Cinnamon, Cloves, Fenugreek, Poppy seeds, Asafoetida , Nutmeg, Mace, Cardamoms

Cooking Directions:

  1. Cook 100 g of rice, 100 g of toor dal & 250 g of cut vegetables of your choice in a pressure cooker.
  2. Heat 4 Tbsp of oil, add 1 tsp of mustard, 1 Tbsp cashew nuts, few curry leaves, add 1 cup chopped Capsicum & Tomato till it softens.
  3. Add 2-3 Tbsp Ogara Bisi Bele Bhath Powder, salt to taste, 2-3 Tbsp tamarind extract with grated coconut (a little jaggery if desired).
  4. Cook on a medium flame for 3-5 minutes with constant stirring. Serve hot with raita /potato chips / boondi.
